Hello, I’m Marcus

Marcus was born in Lisbon, Portugal & grew up in Istanbul, Turkey & Charleston SC. Marcus had flown across the Atlantic twice before he was born, so traveling is in his blood!

After graduating from Maine Maritime Academy and receiving his Captains license from the US Coast Guard, Marcus skippered sailing yachts for almost 20 years before settling back in his family home of Charleston once more. During his marine career Marcus traveled throughout the Mediterranean, Caribbean and New England.   

Marcus cut this teeth in the travel industry working at the family agency in Charleston in the 1980’s and joined as a consultant in 2011. Marcus took over ownership of Adventure In Travel in 2017 and partnered with Travel Abundance after a chance meeting with Natalie in Morocco!

Captain Marcus specializes in expedition cruises and luxury river cruising, and is one top Morocco travel experts in the US, He also knows Türkiye like the back of his hand, having grown up in Istanbul and spending several years sailing on the stunning Cleopatra Riviera during his yachting career. Marcus leverages his lifelong travel experiences into adventures for his clients, be it by land or sea!
